Visit  Historic Central City, known as the “Richest square mile on Earth”

Central City was  founded in 1859. Central City and Gilpin County have yielded almost $1.5 million in Gold in todays prices.  To start the tour, You will be picked up at the Ameristar Casino by shuttle bus.  We will visit the famous Central City Opera, which is still in operation today and was built in 1878 by welsh and Cornish miners. The tour continues with a visit to the Teller House Hotel built in 1872 and once described as the most opulent hotel west of Chicago . See the famous “Face in the Bar room Floor” and period furniture . The hotel is now owned by the Gilpin County Historical Society who schedules tours through this famous Hotel. The third stop on the tour is the Gilpin County Museum. Built in 1870 as a school house, the museum features collections and exhibits from the “Boom Days” of Gilpin County. See what main street looked like, wares from the day, mining equipment, see a Victorian era parlor, kitchen , school classroom, railroad memorabilia and more.

We conclude the tour with dinner at “Millie’s” in the Easy Street casino on Main street. This building was constructed in 1897.  Central City is designated as a Historical District and most building in town are from the mid-late 1800’s. The shuttle will then return you to the Ameristar

Cost of the tour is $40.00 which includes all of the  guided tours ,transportation and dinner.
