    Due to the public and media outcry for video surveillance of first responder contact, specifically that of law enforcement, the issue of utilizing body worn camera’s have sparked several conversations regarding the potential use of such technology throughout the first responder communities. With the need for transparency, balanced by the ability to review contacts made by first responder members, the controversy of utilizing such technology creates quite a conundrum for our current entities. Will body camera’s hurt the industry or propel first responder’s efforts far into the future?

    Your first robin, the Masters, a warm sunny day, I can only be talking of one thing of course--the welcome onset of spring.    For most of us, the warm weather means spending more time outdoors and in particular in our gardens.  Unfortunately, the same is true of criminals, as they seek out criminal opportunities in your neighbourhoods and around your home.

           Given this seasonal connection, have you ever wondered whether gardening can be used to deter criminal activity and promote neighbourhood safety?  Well, the answer to that question is a resounding YES!

    Longtime ISCPP Members, may remember that I reviewed the book Freakonomics by Steven D Levitt & Stephen J Dubner in the 4th Quarter, 2005 issue of the Practitioner - almost 10 years ago!  It’s time to review the follow-up of this book that was published in 2009.

           Super Freakonomics, like it’s predecessor, is neither a crime prevention book, nor is it an economics book.  The authors examine the way humans make decisions from the standpoint of economics.  Many of the topics that are examined are certainly related to crime prevention.

    The ISCPP completed successful ICPS Trainings & Testing's in Scottsdale, Arizona (USA) on April 7-9, 2015 and Charleston, South Carolina (USA) on April 20-22, 2015.  A full report and class photos in the next issue of the Practitioner.
